The Introduction.

Hello. My name is Alex and I didn't sleep last night.

To pass the time I've spent the last few hours contemplating the transient, meaningless nature of life and concluded that meh, I don't particularly care.

I've tried learning basic Korean nouns, I've tried reading about the Belgian Congo Free State, I've tried peeling an orange and cutting up the little bits of orange peel into littler bits of orange peel, but alas, no comfort.

When there's nowhere left to turn and all hope is lost one falls into the pit which every bored and self-involved person inevitably falls: blogging.

Well, you've got to do something.

The truth is that these words will probably never be read. There must be a ratio of one-hundred blogs per curious reader, there's hardly demand for another. Yes, I'll be washed away by the tides of indifference and grander alternatives, but rightly so.

After all, why waste time reading this when there are libraries full of mans greatest insights? When you've not read Dickens or Sartre? Why sit at a computer screen half-interestedly scrolling through a strangers inane opinions (hi there) when trees exist and boats and ice-cream? There are so many beautiful and fascinating people you're yet to meet, so many incredibly places you're yet to go. Stop fucking reading and run naked through a field in a rainstorm for Christ's sake!

You're on the internet, at the very least you could be watching porn.

I hope I've convinced you not to continue reading my blog. Life's too short and nobody checks Twitter on their deathbed. Don't look at random blogs in a dark room feeling lonely. Go and write a symphony or fall in love with a stranger at a bus stop or plot revenge. Or fall in love with a stranger and then plot your revenge on that cold-hearted bitch. Who is she to call you a weirdo anyway? She's the one hanging out at a bus stop at 4 in the morning.

You know, something constructive.

That being said, if you're still reading this then thank you very much. You have no idea how much I need the validation.

If you do hang around then I promise semi-regular updates. You can rely on me. I've never let anyone down before in my life.

Come back soon,
-Alex
